  1. Wash your hands thoroughly before handling the dropper bottle.
  2. Open the bottle and tilt your head back slightly.
  3. Gently pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket.
  4. Hold the dropper above the eye and squeeze out the prescribed number of drops (usually one drop in the affected eye(s) once daily, preferably in the evening).
  5. Close your eyes gently and press the inner corner for 1-2 minutes to prevent the medication from draining away.
  6. Wipe away any excess liquid with a clean tissue.
  7. Replace the cap tightly after use.

Do not touch the dropper tip to any surface, including your eye or hands, to avoid contamination. If you use other eye medications, wait at least 5 minutes between applications.

Like all medications, Latoprost RT Eye Drop may cause certain side effects, although not everyone experiences them. Commonly reported side effects include:

  • Mild stinging or burning sensation in the eye upon application
  • Redness or irritation of the eye
  • Gradual change in the colour of the iris (especially in patients with mixed-colour irises)
  • Increased growth, thickness, or darkening of eyelashes
  • Dryness of the eyes
  • Blurred vision immediately after application
  • Watery eyes or conjunctival hyperaemia (redness of the eye surface)

Rarely, more serious side effects may occur, such as eye pain, swelling, infection, or allergic reactions. If you experience severe discomfort, persistent redness, swelling, or vision changes, discontinue use and consult your ophthalmologist at once.

The drops should be used exactly as prescribed, usually one drop in the affected eye(s) once daily in the evening. Before use, wash hands and remove contact lenses, and avoid touching the dropper tip to the eye. Common side effects include eye irritation, redness, itching, blurred vision, increased tearing, and changes in eyelash growth or iris color over time. Serious reactions, though rare, may include eye inflammation, swelling, or vision changes, which require immediate medical attention. Precautions include informing your doctor if you have allergies to Latanoprost, eye inflammation, macular edema, previous eye surgeries, or systemic conditions like asthma. Avoid alcohol and follow the correct timing if using other eye medications. Store the drops out of reach of children, at room temperature, away from light, heat, and moisture. Complete the prescribed course and consult your doctor for any unexpected side effects or concerns.

  • Inform your doctor about any allergies, pre-existing eye conditions, or ongoing treatments before starting Latoprost RT Eye Drop.
  • This medication should be used strictly as prescribed. Overuse or misuse may lead to increased risk of side effects.
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their healthcare provider before use.
  • If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using the drops and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting.
  • Store the bottle at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children.
  • Do not use the drops if the solution changes colour, turns cloudy, or if the bottle is past its expiry date.

Q: Can Latoprost RT Eye Drop cure glaucoma?

A: It helps manage glaucoma by lowering eye pressure but does not cure the condition. Continuous use as prescribed can prevent further vision loss.

Q: How long does it take to see the effects?

A: You may notice reduced eye pressure within a few hours, but maximum benefit is usually seen after several weeks of regular use.

Q: Is it safe for children?

A: Safety and efficacy in children have not been well established. Use only if prescribed by a paediatric eye specialist.

Q: What should I do if I miss a dose?

A: Apply the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Q: Can it alter the colour of my eyes?

A: Yes, prolonged use may cause gradual darkening of the iris, particularly in those with mixed-colour eyes. This change is typically permanent.

Q: Can I use Latoprost RT Eye Drop with other eye medicines?

A: Yes, but maintain a gap of at least 5 minutes between different eye drops. Always follow your doctor’s advice about combining treatments.
